Chris Froome, the English professional cyclist has expressed his eagerness to ride against Alberto Contador, the Spanish professional cyclist. Both the riders will for the first time face off against each other at 2015 Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista del Sol. The race is scheduled to begin on 18th February at Seville, Spain.
On the first day of the race a split road and a time trial competition will take place. Vuelta a Andalucia is five day race and the competition will get tougher with each stage. The race will end on 21st February with a summit finish.
Chris Froome has said that it is interesting for him to ride against Contador but he also said that he expects many riders who are taking part in this race to be good and hence he said that the race might prove to be a challenging one for him. Movistar team’s Nairo Quintana was supposed to take part in this race but he will be unable to on account of crashing in the Colombian National Championships.
Jean Christophe Peraud and Romain Bardet of Ag2 La Mondiale professional cycling team and Bauk Mollema of Trek cycling are participating in this race. Chris Froome said that he finds it good to ride in a challenging race like this at the very beginning of a season. He considers that this race has all the elements. According to Froome, it is a great feeling to participate in a race like this that gives him the thrill of racing. It is considered that winning this race will give any aspiring winner of a grand tour this year a psychological boost.
Astana’s Vincenzo Nibali who became the winner of Tour de France in 2014 has chosen to ride the Tour of Oman this year instead of participating in Ruta del Sol. Tejay Van Garderen of the BMC team and Thibaut Pinot, winners of the second and fifth place s respectively in the previous year’s Tour de France are also participating in Tour of Oman.
